As quoted by Jean-Paul Restoule and Chaw-win-is “Within indigenous worldviews, it is often believed that unless one learns by experience, the knowledge is not truly their own.”
In the indigenous worldview, an individual learns through experiencing that learning. Therefore, to involve the Aboriginal perspective in the teaching-learning process, an educator can use technology to enhance learning by doing. In this way, some apps such as PhET Simulations, and Physics Lab help students to perform experiments. Through virtual reality, they can experience themselves which would help students in their learning and could be another option for learning by doing. Moreover, I have learned that storytelling is the best learning way in Aboriginal culture. Elders used to teach deep teachings in this way. Additionally, the traditional ways of teaching and learning also involve spiritual development, which lacks in the Western education system. Therefore, in schools, teachers must focus on learning by doing and introduce the concept with practical implications by involving technology. Thus, it will not only help students to learn necessary life skills but also assist them to cope with the digitally advanced world. Social media platforms are another way through which students specifically Aboriginal connect with other Aboriginal students’ groups which provides them a sense of belongingness
