In today’s world, every individual use technology in one and another way. In my personal life, I also use technology for communication, watching movies, online shopping, travel and navigation, and banking purposes. However, during my schooling, I have very limited exposure to educational technology, Luckily, I got an opportunity to learn and implement that knowledge in my teaching journey as well as in my professional growth. Through this learning journey, I came to know about the laws of FOIPA and BC digital literacy. I have learned about the rules that must be abiding by teachers and administrators while using student personal information, and how a school can maintain student privacy by taking informed consent from their parents. Digital citizenship that every individual can post on digital platforms, and they have rights for their intellectual property. I also learned about how to carefully review the user agreement and any online services. I learned about if a teacher post student work online, then what could be the potential risk to students such as they might have to face racism, harassment, or any misleading guidance? Thus, in order to safely access the internet or any online services, an individual should use it responsibly and there should be in-training sessions for teachers to make them digitally empowered.
